Report:
The Rubies got back to winning ways with a dominant performance against 1948 and thoroughly deserved the winning margin. The day started with the unveiling of the new white kit for 2009 by Jonny Gel. The general consensus was a big thumbs up although the short length raised eyebrows however style guru Gel assures that this is so \"in\' this season. The Rubies started with Dan at right back and Josh in centre defence as again we were short of defenders. With the wind behind the Rubies started much better than in recent weeks and were winning most 50 50s and getting good possession. The chances started to come - Mawds had a shot saved and Gel was denied on the follow up, further Mawds snapshot wide and header left the bench wondering if it was one of those days. Raul and Dan were linking well down the right and forced a number of openings and corners. Abo came on for Ben and Diccon for Paul E as the Rubies pressed for the opener. Gel headed over when unmarked from a corner and the Rubies finished the half frustrated. Porridge did not make a single save as the game was played almost entirely in the 1948 half. Jeff came on for Raul at half time and the second half started in the same manner. Dave K\'s low shot was just wide and Mawds shot wide after good work on the left by Justin. The Rubies finally got the breakthrough when Justin floated over a left wing corner and Mawds headed in from 6 yards. His watching parents were delighted and the games tension was broken following earlier turkish wrestling involving Justin on the left wing and Mawds showing a Nepalese a close up of his fledgling moustache. 1948 had a couple of corners and a disallowed goal but the Ruby back 5 were in great form. Mawds quickly got his second after being put through by Diccon and the contest was over as 1948 heads dropped. Jeff made a good run down the right shaped to cross and then pulled back onto his left foot to cross to Gel who duly obliged. It was all Ruby time now and Mawds rounded the keeper to score his hat trick following a good through ball by Raul. The ref blew slightly early to save 1948 from further punishment. In all a great perfomance, 4 goals and a clean sheet. Excellent performances all over the pitch, Raul had a strong game and Josh was excellent in the defence however the sponsors Honey of the Week was Nick Mawdsley. His parents have told me that as a special treat he can put some on his jelly after dinner tonight and stay up late. Next match is against Dynamics on FRIDAY night - please get on the site ASAP. Rock

Is that a tache Mawds? Not shaving until your parents come back, is that it?

Jeff Roskell on 9th November 2009 09:50 am

According to the numbers that Kitson gave us at the end of last season, Mawdsley's hat-trick on Saturday has made him the leading Ruby scorer of all time. Congrats. Don't let the parents go home or he'll be s**t again
