Report:
The Rubies took last weeks form into the friendly against Dynamics and started very strongly creating several chances in the opening 10 minutes. The silent assassin had a shot tipped over, the skipper shot wide and Dave K had a run and shot. The Rubies paid the price for this lack of composure in front of goal when Dynamics scored a neat goal on 12 minutes. Mawds then had another strong shot tipped round the post before Dynamics scored a header from 6 yards which gave stand in keeper Paul Clayton no chance. Mawds shot over with his left foot when well placed. The final chance of the half fell to Diccon Ex Pieman Martin who when put clean through decided against shooting first time with his right pulled it back onto his left and then shot tamely at the keeper. The half ended with the Rubies 2 nil down and scratching their heads as to why. A few words of encouragement from the manager and skipper on composure and man marking and the Rubies started the 2nd half brightly. Ed\'s left wing cross was met by Raul at the back post and he volleyed over. Gel cut out a crossfield ball, ran on and shot wide. Against the run of play, Dynamics snatched their 3rd when they released a runner who rounded Dumbo to slot home. The Rubies were not discouraged and further efforts from Dave K and Paul E were wide and over respectively. The goal finally came when Gel challenged for a corner at the back post, the ball fell nicely for Ben Kimchee Arber who shot right footed into the top corner. By then the skipper was in goal as Paul C replaced Scotty at centre half due to a groin injury which shouldnt be detailed on a family website. The Rubies were pushing on for their second and were caught on the break as the ball was lobbed over our stranded keeper. The Rubies finished strongly with two chances headed over but it was not to be.
Some good positives despite the result - creating numerous chances, the quality of our corners was excellent as was attacking the ball at corners, 40 minutes each way against some quality players. Some good performances - Matt Williams at right back, the new slimline skipper and Ex Pieman (proving how fitness improves your game) however the sponsors Honey of the Week was Jeff Roskell who had an assured game at centre back, not putting a foot wrong.
Next game is Saturday 21st - get on the site and chilli up. Matches for next 3 weeks. Cheers Rock
