Report:
The Rubies started this 1st v 3rd clash in great style creating the early chances as Matt W and Kimchee combined well down the right and Shorty and James B linked well up front. James shot wide from the edge of the box after a Gel layback and another shot was fumbled by their keeper (who didnt look happy all day). A sweeping move down the left led to a far post cross which James sidefooted against the crossbar with their keeper beaten. At the other end Chill, Paul C, Josh and Matt were handling their forwards. Paul C had enough time to get on the end of a right wing cross but his glancing header was wide. Half time came with Rubies on top but with no goals to show for the pressure. The Consulate finally started to get into the game in the 2nd half and Norman Stanley had to dive to cut out a low wing cross from their dangerous no.10. Chill then had a buccaneering run box to box but couldnt quite apply the finish. The Rubies great approach work finally was rewarded when Paul E supplied a great cross from the right wing which James swept in from 12 yards. Almost immediately a neat cross from Kimchee was headed over their keeper by Paul E for the 2nd goal as the Rubies got on top. Dan T then forced their keeper to save his long shot as the Rubies searched for a 3rd. Consulate did not lie down and had their best spell and chances - their rotund balding striker cross shot wide when he should have scored, their forward sprung the offside trap and shot straight at NS when unchallenged and finally Chill cleared a goal bound effort as the last man. A couple of changes and the Rubies picked up - Gel fed Shorty who stabbed wide and then Gel set up the skipper who dragged his left foot (no surprise) shot wide. It was all Rubies now and the 3rd came from Ed's corner as the goal machine Gel headed in unchallenged from 5 yards. The ref blew immediately after the restart and the Rubies could reflect on one of the best performances of the season in football terms. A good all round team performance with several MOM candidates but the Honey of the Week was Chill who was solid at the back and found time to stroll upfield in libero style. Thanks to Dan T playing despite food poisoning and Paul E\'s first league goal. No game next Saturday - keep your eyes on the site. 5 a side training Monday night at South Island School. Kung Hei Fat Choy - Rock

Great win boys. Just to avoid confusion, I would like to make it clear that I was not playing for the oppo at one point and that the "rotund balding striker" was indeed someone else!
